Boarding at Simple Times

We are moving this year to a new property. We have limited pasture boarding available at this time and may offer stall boarding once again as we build the facilities for it. We are a family oriented, child friendly farm. With our commitment to excellence in care and cleanliness, you won't go wrong at Simple Times Farm. Lessons/Riding Instruction at Simple Times

At Simple Times we are sure to give each rider the chance to excel. Many of our new students have quickly established themselves as contenders in local and regional show circuits.

Students at Simple Times know how to ride, are fit for riding, and are taught to understand and care for their horses.

Lesson/Riding Instruction Prices

   $35 - private lessons - purchase a pack of lessons and save $5 per lesson

   $30 - semi private (2-3 riders-price is per person) - purchase a pack of lessons and save almost $5 per lesson

   $25 - private lessons (1/2 hour)

   $25 - group lessons (4 or more riders-price is per person) if available

   $25 - Home School Lessons (lessons must be taken during normal operating hours for public schools)

Buy a pack of lessons (7) get your 8th free! - available for semi and private lessons only(Save $5 per lesson!)

Lessons include a full 60 minutes of barn time including tacking up, groundwork and riding instruction. Our instructors are thorough and engaging. Tack is provided. Students must avoid loose or baggy clothing and wear boots with at least 1/2” heel.

Christina DeSota nurtured a love of horses throughout her youth, managing a barn for friends and developing her riding skills. An excellent rider with a love for children, she shines at communicating basic skills and knowledge to the youngest members of the farm who come to ride and also enjoys teaching our more mature members more advanced skills in riding. She specializes in teaching western pleasure, english pleasure and also does some teaching in hunter/jumber.

Nathanael DeSota enjoys working with horses on the ground and is honored to have the chance to assist the clientelle of Simple Times Farm with their horses, especially those that are struggling through bad habits or poor ground manners with their equine partner. Nathanael also can green-break your horse the natural way! Call for more details. He also enjoys working with young people and especially enjoys working the birthday parties and doing the general maintenance and clean-up around the barn.

Giving children and youth chances by providing them with lifelong mentoring is the mission of Simple Times Farm. Our summer camp introduces them to truth, character, skills, and relationships that will last for a lifetime and our year round programs ensure that youth are able to stay in contact and continue to grow in the principles they are learning.

While some families are able to invest the finances necessary to cover some of the expenses for their children, many are not. At STF, we have a special burden for urban and rural children who may never get a chance for lack of mere money. Around 1/3 to 1/4 of the children and youth we serve receive merit-based scholarships enabling them to access one year of mentoring through the farm. This number varies based on how much our partners (you) invest in our scholarship funds, help with capital costs, and provide monthly support for the camps, programs, and clubs run through the farm.

You can partner with us in the following ways:

1) Sponsor a child (or two - three for that matter). $75 per month for one year provides one deserving child with a summer camp experience and a monthly mentoring opportunity at the farm for the entire year. This allows us to develop a significant relationship with lasting fruit with both the child and their family. We also have programs designed for a more intensive once a week mentoring opportunity for those that are serious about change!

2) Start a Kicked-In Scholarship Fund through your organization. Kicked-In provides in-school mentors at local schools and establishes merit based scholarships to farm programs for youth who participate via their school. Mentoring focuses on helping children develop the discipline and character needed to succeed in completing their education. Mentors are trained through STF's Apprenticeship Program.

3) Invest in a capital project on the farm to help us achieve debt-free and sustainable operations. As a service organization, we want to serve for a lifetime. You can help us establish a legacy that will last.

4) Participate as a monthly supporter. Additional monthly income is needed to bring sustainability to the farm and enable our staff to serve without distraction. Check out our staff bios and consider aiding in their monthly support.

5) Volunteer in building and maintenance. There is plenty of work to go round on the farm!

6) Purchase food through the Farm Cooperative, take riding lessons, board a horse . . . The profit we recieve from farm services are channeled right back into our mission. The farm is a registered 501 (c) 3 organization putting its mission first.

7) Invite our farm staff to speak at your church or organization. Our presentations are humorous and use farm life to teach on topics like marriage, family, business, education, and faith. Along the way, people learn about the mission of STF and have the opportunity to partner with us.

In partnership with Damascus Road the AFL program is designed specifically to establish men in the knowledge, disciplines, skills, and character necessary to succeed as shepherds, husbands and fathers, and business leaders. The program is designed around a structure we call 30/20/10 that engages apprentices in 30 hours weekly of business development through rotating roles in several entrepreneurial ventures and established businesses, 20 hours weekly of combined classroom instruction and on-the-job ministry training, and 10 hours weekly of personal development and study. CHAMPS 4H Club 

Simple Times Farm is now home to CHAMPS 4H Club. Club leader, Christina DeSota, will be focusing on horses this year through 2012 and will hopefully expand from there in 2013.

CHAMPS Day Camps

Simple Times Day Camps - Organized around practical skills, foundational character, and love for God, this camp provides children with a chance for change.

Days are invested in riding, agricultural science, working with the animals and gardening. Our staff are selected specifically for their passion for young people.

Children ages 5 to 18 and their parents are welcome to come join the fun CHAMPS has to offer.
