Welcome to Simple Times Farm
Simple Times is a non profit 501(c) 3 organization and strives to be a sustainable farm and equine center that exists to train up young men and women to worship the Creator through living responsible, adventurous, and creative lives in his service. We are located south of Flint and currently our clientelle come to us from Flint, Grand Blanc, Swartz Creek, Goodrich, Fenton, Holly, Linden and the surrounding communities. We are so honored to serve with each of you!!
Simple Times Farm is open for boarding!! Our stalls in the new barn are completed. Come enjoy our indoor arena with great footing, trails in the good months as well as a 80x200 outdoor arena and indoor bathrooms :) We only have a few stall openings left!! We do still offer pasture boarding as well. Come check us out!! Our family and kid friendly atmosphere is loved by all. We offer lessons in Western and English disciplines, ground work and under saddle training as well as breaking out your new horse. Our property provides a great chance for the community to interact with Simple Times as well as the children and youth who come for our day camps, 4H clubs, birthday parties and other farm experiences.
The animals and businesses that are part of the life of the farm provide arenas of training for youth in essential character and skills. Each youth that we encounter is a relationship we hope to treasure and develop for a lifetime.
CHAMPS/4H - an interactive Day Camp and farm immersion experience for children ages 5 - 18 introduces them to the values and skills of farm life in a fun and lively atmosphere. Whether they are grooming a horse, learning to ride, working in the gardens, or simply exploring creation, children learn about the God who loves them and are discipled to let that love mold them into purposeful, useable, and talented individuals.
Birthday parties - Parties at the farm are available for children ages 4-14. Kids enjoy riding and enjoy being with our horse friends! Come on down for some great farm fun instead of doing what we have already done many times...roller skating, laser tag or bowling for your birthday party. Your child will remember this party for a lifetime!! Call or email for more information and to reserve your party.
Simple Times Food - Our misson is to connect you with great food and the people that make it. Simple Times Food is a marketplace where you can discover and buy real wholesome food from small, local, passionate food producers and artisans. Simple Times Food is also a food co-op that orders from United Natural Foods, Country Life, and Frontier.
Issachar Learning Center - At the heart of our vision is Issachar - a home and life-skills training center for young men. A place where they can become part of a family and grow to be virtuous leaders with the skills to be effective men, loving husbands, wise fathers, and courageous contributors to their culture.
The AFL - Apprenticeship For Life is a college level apprenticeship program oriented around providing young men 17 - 25 with training in practical life skills, entrepenurial business, theology, and ministry. Students take residency at the farm or a mentor's home for 1 to 4 years. This life-changing program is offered in partnership with Damascus Road (www.damascusroadflint.org) and aims to train young men who will be the family, ministry, and business leaders of the next generation.
Re-Fuel - As a subsidiary to our AFL program, ReFuel provides men who have found themselves in challenging situations an opportunity to re-orient their lives and get back on their feet through practical training in work and life skills.
Local K-12 youth can participate in the life of the farm through our mentoring program - KICKED-IN. KiCKED-IN is hosted at local public schools by community members trained to coach and inspire youth. Through diligence, attendance, and personal achievement, young people can earn experiences and opportunities at Simple Times Farm (riding lessons, wilderness adventures, internships). These activities are sponsored through local churches and civic groups who adopt local schools desiring to be a part of the KICKED-IN network.
